Wonder Room Productions was founded in 2012 by filmmaker Giacomo Cimini with producers Tommaso Colognese and Pietro Greppi. The company produced the science fiction short film The Nostalgist, based on the story by acclaimed New York Times best-selling author Daniel H Wilson (Robopocalypse, Amped), starring Lambert Wilson (Of Gods and Men, The Matrix Reloaded) and Samuel Joslin (The Impossible).
Part of the costs were covered via the participation of Wonder Room’s VFX partners as well as the completion of a successful Kickstarter campaign, which raised a total of £32,800 from 460 backers. The company was later joined by VFX artist Giacomo Bargellesi.

The Nostalgist received its worldwide festival premiere at the Palm Springs Short Fest in June 2014, where it was awarded the runner-up prize for live-action short above 15 minutes. It was subsequently awarded the first prize as Best Short in the Generator 18+ (Fiction) Section at the 2014 Giffoni Film Festival, Audience Award at Utopiales 2014, Audience Award (Méliè d’Argent) at Trieste Science + Fiction, best short film over 15 minutes at RAW Science Film Festival, best sci-fi Short Film at Leeds Int Film Festival and it screened at further festivals including Fantastic Fest, BFI London Film Festival, Lucca Comics and Games, AISFF, Arcipelago, Festival Internacional de Cine de Gijón, Ajyal Youth Film Festival and in the official selection of the Festival Du Curt Metrage CLERMONT-FERRAND.

The Nostalgist has been picked up for international sales by Premium Films and can be found online on iTunes, Verizon, Google Play, IndieflixWe Are Colony, Amazon Instant. It is also available on DVD and Blu-Ray.

Wonder Room is currently assembling a slate of feature film projects.
